2024-2025 Participation

The call for applications for applications for the 2024-2025 ALDP cohort is now open! 

Application Process

All applications should be submitted electronically via InfoReady. Submit an application.   

Application deadline:  Monday, April 1, 2024.

Incomplete applications will not be accepted. Multiple nominations from colleges/divisions will be accepted. For additional information please contact: aldp@appstate.edu.

Time Commitment

Face-to-face sessions will be held monthly during the academic year, along with ongoing virtual interactions and mentorship activities between monthly sessions.

Nominees must commit to full attendance and participation for all sessions and activities to be considered for the program and to complete the program successfully.

Eligibility

Faculty and EHRA staff members who have been employed with Appalachian State University a minimum of three years (by July 1, 2024) and have demonstrated leadership experience or recognized leadership potential are eligible to participate.

Faculty applicants will be required to submit a letter of support from their Department Chair upon submission of the application.  Dean approval is also required for all candidates and will be requested via the InfoReady system by Wednesday, April 10, 2024.

EHRA non-faculty applicants will be required to submit a letter of support from their immediate supervisor upon submission of application. Division head approval is also required for all candidates and will be requested via the InfoReady system by Wednesday, April 10, 2024.


Faculty participating in an Off-campus Scholarly Assignment are not eligible to participate. 

Current or past Department Chairs are not eligible to participate.


Application Requirements

This is a highly competitive application process. The application must include:

  • Letter of support (as referenced above), which addresses the questions below:
    • How long and in what capacity have you known the applicant?
    • How do you think this program will impact the applicant’s potential for leadership in higher education?

  • Statement from the applicant (500 word limit, Times New Roman point size 12), which addresses the questions below:
    • As leaders, we play different roles based on individual experience and situations. Briefly describe how you have demonstrated leadership capacity in higher education.
    • What are your goals with respect to leadership in higher education going forward?
    • How will the ALDP experience help you accomplish those goals?
  • Current full CV/Resume
